Massachusetts Bay was founded in 1630, 10 years after the Pilgrims landed on Plymouth Rock.
Colonial life was focused on survival and hard work. Marriage was expected. Girls were usually wed by 20. Men had until their mid-20s. Children started helping with the chores at a young age, leaving little time for play. Neighbors only saw each other on Sunday during church services that lasted most of the day.
